had I known part of my post about the book, “Death on The Barrens” would be reposted in the form of a review (like, say here: NorthAtlantic  Books -or- here: Random House) I would have been more articulate.  Like maybe I would have said this:

I am crazy about survivalist books; Into the Wild, Into Thin Air, Alive, etc… Death on the Barrens is just as captivating a read. Six men traverse the Canadian arctic in canoes and become spellbound with the beauty of the landscape.  Lulled into relaxing rather than hurrying to beat the oncoming winter the story takes a turn into struggle and survival.  The story is true, the details are fascinating and book itself is impossible to put down.
